Welcome
to Michigan's
Prescription Drug Discount Card
The MiRx (My Prescription)
Card is a new prescription drug discount program for Michigan residents who
do not have any prescription
drug coverage.
The
MiRx Card program is free. There is no cost for the card. There is no cost
to enroll in the program. And, the MiRx card
is easy to use. MiRx card holders will take their prescription and their
MiRx card to their local participating pharmacy. The pharmacist will fill
the prescription and charge the MiRx discounted price. The discount is
good on any medicine the pharmacist stocks and your doctor prescribes. Over-the-counter
drugs are not covered even if they are prescribed by your doctor.
When you
present your MiRx card at participating pharmacies you can expect to save
about 20 percent off the retail price of common prescription drugs.
Savings will typically be between 5 and 25 percent. Savings depend on the
kinds of medicines used, and if they are generic or brand-name drugs.
Participating
pharmacies will be listed on the Department of Community Health web site
(www.michigan.gov/mdch).
To be eligible to participate in the MiRx
Card program, each family member, or member of a household, must be enrolled
in the program. There is no age limit
to participate in the MiRx Card program. Make sure all eligible members of
a family or household are included on the enrollment form. Each eligible
applicant will receive their own MiRx card once your application is completed
and processed
within two weeks, along with a list of participating pharmacies in their
area.
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be a resident of the state of Michigan
